A wide array of German and Spanish clubs reportedly hold an interest in signing Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Fabio Silva during the January transfer window.

Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Fabio Silva is reportedly attracting widespread interest in his signature ahead of the January transfer window.

Since arriving from Porto in 2020 for a fee in the region of £35m, Silva has failed to live up to his price-tag at Molineux.

A total of five goals and six assists have come from 72 appearances in all competitions, while he has been provided with just 262 minutes in the Premier League during 2023-24.

The hope had been that productive loan stints at Anderlecht and PSV Eindhoven - where he contributed a combined 16 goals and six assists - would lead to him kick-starting his career at Wolves.

However, after Gary O'Neil replaced Julen Lopetegui on the eve of the new campaign, the Portugal Under-21 international has dropped down the pecking order, remaining an unused substitute in the last five fixtures.

With Wolves allegedly in the market for at least one new attacking player in January, the assumption has been that a new home - temporary or permanent - will be found for Silva.

According to the Express & Star, that is the current plan with the 21-year-old not short of interest.

The report claims that Bundesliga clubs Freiburg, Eintracht Frankfurt, Borussia Monchengladbach, Wolfsburg and Union Berlin are all monitoring the situation.

Furthermore, several Spanish teams are allegedly prepared to enter the equation with the priority of Silva and Wolves being regular game time over profile of club.

Silva is more likely to go out on loan with the club in question possessing an option to buy, but the report indicates that a sale may not be out of the question.

Either option will benefit Wolves at a time when the general consensus is that they still have work to do in order to remain on the right side of FFP.

That cause will be helped if they can facilitate an exit for Jonny, who was recently banished from the first-team squad for "a training ground incident".

Wolves head into the weekend's Premier League action sitting in 13th position in the Premier League standings ahead of their visit to West Ham United on Sunday afternoon.
