Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane is reportedly furious with club president Florentino Perez after seemingly missing out on Paul Pogba this summer.

The Manchester United midfielder publicly stated his desire to leave Old Trafford earlier, with Madrid understood to be his preferred destination despite interest from Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain as well.

However, the Spanish giants are unwilling to meet United's £150m asking price, while the Red Devils are refusing to budge on their valuation of the player.

Madrid are able to sign players until September 2, but they are now increasingly resigned to missing out on Zidane's number one target after being told that United would not even consider selling beyond the end of the English transfer window at 5pm today.

The Daily Mail reports that Zidane is angry with the club for not getting the deal over the line, leaving Madrid to consider moves for Donny van de Beek and Christian Eriksen instead.

A lack of interest in big-money deals for Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez is thought to be a major reason behind Madrid's inability to afford Pogba, who is now expected to stay at Old Trafford unless United can bring in a replacement before the window closes.
