Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick expects Paul Pogba to return to the fold from a serious thigh injury in "a couple of weeks".

Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has offered a positive injury update on midfielder Paul Pogba.

The 28-year-old - who is about to enter the final six months of his deal with the Red Devils - has been out of action since suffering a serious thigh injury with France in November.

Pogba is still not expected to return to the pitch until the New Year, but Rangnick is confident that the former Juventus man will soon return to the fold.

Speaking to reporters at a press conference, Rangnick said: "Right now, it's about him getting fit again, getting training fit, not to say match fit.

"I think this will take, as far as I know, another couple of weeks and until then my full focus is on the players who are available and with whom I can play the next upcoming games."

Pogba has registered seven assists in 13 games across all competitions this season, although doubts remain over his long-term future at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are not expected to sanction a sale in the January transfer window, and it remains to be seen how the appointment of a new permanent manager would impact Pogba's plans.
