Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey and the rest of the squad are reportedly left stunned after manager Unai Emery's decision to drop the Welshman for the defeat to Chelsea.

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey and his teammates were reportedly left stunned by manager Unai Emery's decision to drop the Welshman for Saturday's 3-2 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Ramsey was a surprise omission from the Gunners' starting lineup to face their London rivals, with Alex Iwobi replacing him in one of only two changes made by the Spaniard.

Emery is understood to have been disappointed with Ramsey's performance during the season-opening loss at home to Manchester City, and is also still searching for his best XI.

However, The Mirror reports that the rest of the squad were surprised that Ramsey was the only midfielder sacrificed from that win, ahead of the likes of Granit Xhaka and Mesut Ozil.

The report also claims that Ramsey has spoken to Emery about the decision in the wake of the entertaining derby in West London.

Ramsey is currently in the final year of his contract at the Emirates Stadium and has so far refused to put pen to paper on the new deal offered by the club.
