Alison Hammond is reportedly in talks about taking over as host of For The Love of Dogs from the late Paul O'Grady.

This Morning host Alison Hammond is reportedly in talks with ITV about taking over as presenter of For The Love of Dogs from the late Paul O'Grady.

The much-loved star died suddenly at the age of 67 last March, having just completed work on the 11th series of the documentary, which follows life at the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.

ITV is keen for the show to continue despite O'Grady's death, and according to The Mirror, Hammond - also host of The Great British Bake Off - is now the favourite to become the new host.

A source told the newspaper: "Paul is obviously irreplaceable but they believe that not only does Alison bring some of Paul's trademark self-deprecating humour to proceedings, but that she can also make it her own, just as Paul did."

Other names linked with the job have included Ricky Gervais, Amanda Holden and Martin Clunes.
