Daryl Murphy had a chance to put the visitors ahead less than 10 minutes into the tie, but Manuel Almunia managed to push his shot wide.

The keeper had to remain alert as Ipswich dominated the opening 20 minutes, but he did enough to stop Mick McCarthy's side from taking the lead.

The hosts took the lead against the run of play 21 minutes in when Riera came forward to curl the ball past Dean Gerken.

Frank Nouble tried to set the visitors up for an equaliser when he curled the ball in to Anthony Wordsworth, but the midfielder could only head over.
