How Atletico Madrid could line up against Real Madrid

Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Atletico Madrid could line up in Sunday's La Liga clash with Real Madrid.

Atletico Madrid will be looking to continue their charge towards the La Liga title when they welcome Real Madrid to Wanda Metropolitano on Sunday afternoon.

Diego Simeone's side, who are five points clear at the summit, are expected to be without the services of Jose Gimenez due to an adductor injury, but the capital giants are otherwise in excellent shape in terms of absentees.

Kieran Trippier is available, having served a 10-week betting suspension, and the England international is being tipped to immediately return to the starting XI for the Madrid derby.

Gimenez's expected absence should see Felipe continue as part of a back three, while Saul Niguez should get the nod over Thomas Lemar to feature in midfield with Koke and Marcos Llorente.

Yannick Carrasco has recently been on the sidelines with a foot problem, but the Belgium international trained on Friday and is expected to be in the starting side on Sunday afternoon.

Luis Suarez is a certainty in the final third of the field, with the former Barcelona striker netting 16 La Liga goals during an excellent season.

Angel Correa was in the XI against Villarreal last time out, but Joao Felix came off the bench to score against the Yellow Submarine and could now be handed a spot in the starting side.

Moussa Dembele is also an option in the final third of the field, but the January arrival is likely to be on the bench with the likes of Geoffrey Kondogbia, Vitolo and Lucas Torreira.

Atletico possible starting lineup: Oblak; Savic, Felipe, Hermoso; Trippier, Llorente, Koke, Saul, Carrasco; Felix, Suarez
