The 22-year-old arrived at the Ricoh Arena in November on a deal that was due to expire later this week.
However, having made five appearances for the Sky Blues, Bigirimana has agreed to stay put for a further four weeks.
Bigirimana started his professional career with Coventry, before he switched to Newcastle in a deal worth £500,000 in July 2012.
