Late goals hand New England Revolution win

New England Revolution score two goals in stoppage time to beat 10-man Sporting Kansas City in their MLS clash at Gillette Stadium.

Two late goals from Teal Bunbury and Lee Nguyen handed the New England Revolution a home victory over 10-man Sporting Kansas City in the MLS.

The home side should have taken the lead in the 14th minute when Nguyen lifted a ball over the top of the Kansas City defence, but Jerry Bengtson could only put his volleyed effort wide.

Sporting responded and could have gone ahead when Benny Feilhaber played the ball down the right for Sal Zizzo, but he blasted the ball over from close range.

New England regrouped and Eric Kronberg kept the score level when he produced two good saves. First he stopped Marc Tierney's cross from looping into the top corner, and then from the follow-up he managed to beat away a shot from Bunbury.

After the break, the visitors came out strongly and Bobby Shuttleworth had to react well to get down to his left to stop an effort from Alex Martinez.

However, the game was to change when Kansas City were reduced to 10 men as Aurelien Collin was given a straight red card for a reckless challenge on Diego Fagundez in the 74th minute.

The visitors looked to have earned a point, but in stoppage time Bunbury manage to poke home Nguyen's cross from the right to hand his side the lead right at the death.

Nguyen himself made sure of the points in the dying seconds of the game when Oriol Rosell handled in the penalty area and a spot kick was awarded, which the midfielder dispatched with ease.
