Metz miss late penalty in goalless draw with Bordeaux

Florent Malouda misses a penalty late on in the game as Metz are held to a goalless draw with Bordeaux in Ligue 1.

Florent Malouda has missed a late penalty as his Metz side were held to a goalless draw by visiting Bordeaux in Ligue 1 this evening.

After a cagey opening 15 minutes, Metz were presented with a great chance to take the lead, but Sergei Krivets somehow squandered his attempt by dragging wide of the target from eight yards.

Travelling Bordeaux had very little to write home about in a turgid first 45 minutes, with their only real attempt of note coming when Jaroslav Plasil flashed over the crossbar from distance.

The second half presented itself in much the same fashion as the first, with Metz making a mess of two key chances in the game that would have earned them all three points, the first of which saw Guirane N'Daw head wide of the right post with the goal gaping.

It appeared as though that miss wouldn't count too much when Bordeaux's Cedric Carrasso brought down Modibo Maiga inside the area with just a few minutes to play, only for Malouda to see his penalty saved by the keeper as FC Girondins held on for a point.
