Real Madrid director Jose Angel Sanchez has reportedly informed the club's players that there will be no signings this summer due to the financial impact of the coronavirus outbreak.

Los Blancos wrestled the La Liga title away from Barcelona but fell short in the Champions League as they lost to Manchester City in the last-16 stage of the competition.

Madrid were thought to be preparing to improve their squad this summer, but according to Marca, Sanchez has informed the players that there will be no new signings ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.

Real Sociedad confirmed on Wednesday that Martin Odegaard would be returning to the Bernabeu this summer despite initially agreeing to also spend next season with the Basque club.

Spanish midfielder Dani Ceballos could also be given an opportunity to secure a first-team spot next term, having impressed for loan club Arsenal in the latter stages of the 2019-20 campaign.

Los Blancos were strongly linked with Paul Pogba earlier this year, but the France international is now allegedly open to signing a new contract with Manchester United.
