Sporting Lisbon's Bruno Fernandes 'desperate' to play for Manchester United

Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes is allegedly 'desperate' to seal a move to Manchester United later in the January transfer window.

Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes is allegedly 'desperate' to secure a switch to Manchester United as soon as possible.

After months of speculation regarding a potential transfer to Old Trafford, it has been claimed that the Portugal international is on the brink of moving to the Premier League giants in the coming days.

While any move may be put off until the playmaker has represented Sporting against Benfica on Friday evening, negotiations are said to have been ongoing since the start of 2020.

According to O Jogo editor Filipe Dias, the 26-year-old has been eyeing up a move to United for some time, increasing the chances of terms being finalised later this week.

Dias told Sky Sports News: "Sporting will accept €70m (£59.93m), but paid in instalments. United is a club that Bruno Fernandes really likes in England, it's a club that he really wants to play for."

United are reportedly keen to include Marcos Rojo in part-exchange, although a deal with a straight fee appears to be more likely.
