Manchester City midfielder Rodri is missing from Pep Guardiola's matchday squad due to injury for their Premier League showdown at home against rivals Manchester United.

Manchester City midfielder Rodri has not been named in Pep Guardiola's matchday squad for their Premier League showdown against rivals Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium this afternoon.

The 26-year-old misses out due to injury and he is one of three changes made to the side which beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-0 before the international break, with Ruben Dias dropping to the substitutes' bench and the injured John Stones missing out entirely.

Kyle Walker replaced the latter at right-back, while Nathan Ake will partner Manuel Akanji at centre-back, shielding goalkeeper Ederson. Joao Cancelo completes the back four with a start at left-back.

Ilkay Gundogan will captain the side and is set to operate in a more defensive role in the absence of Rodri, and the German is joined in centre-midfield by Bernardo Silva and Kevin De Bruyne, the latter of whom scored a brace in the 4-1 Manchester derby home win over United last season.

Erling Braut Haaland, who could become the first player in Premier League history to score three successive home hat-tricks in the competition, will continue to lead the line, with support provided in attack by English duo Phil Foden and Jack Grealish, who both scored against Wolves last time out.

Aymeric Laporte, who is yet to play this season after undergoing knee surgery over the summer, is named on the substitutes' bench for the first time this season, joining the likes of Riyad Mahrez, Julian Alvarez and Cole Palmer.

As for Man United, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony are among those selected in Erik ten Hag's starting lineup, while Cristiano Ronaldo and Anthony Martial are named on the bench.

Manchester City starting lineup: Ederson; Walker, Akanji, Ake, Cancelo; De Bruyne, Gundogan, Bernardo; Foden, Haaland, Grealish

Subs: Ortega, Carson, Dias, Laporte, Gomez, Lewis, Mahrez, Palmer, Alvarez

Manchester United starting lineup: De Gea; Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Malacia; Eriksen, McTominay, Fernandes; Antony, Rashford, Sancho

Subs: Heaton, Lindelof, Shaw, Casemiro, Fred, Pellistri, Elanga, Martial, Ronaldo
