Arsenal team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Manchester United

Sports Mole rounds up Arsenal's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their Premier League showdown with Manchester United on Sunday.

Arsenal return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon with a highly-anticipated showdown against rivals Manchester United.

Both teams have endured indifferent starts to the new top-flight campaign, with the 11th-placed Gunners sitting two points and four positions above their hosts.

Despite being able to rest a number of players for the Europa League encounter with Dundalk on Thursday evening, Mikel Arteta still has a number of injury concerns.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Arsenal's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the visit to Old Trafford at the weekend.

David Luiz

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: November 1 (vs. Manchester United)

Luiz was forced off in the early stages of the second half against Leicester City with a thigh problem. As well as quickly ruling the Brazilian out of the meeting with Dundalk, Arteta hinted that the centre-back had little chance of being fit for the trip to the North-West.

Rob Holding

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: November 21 (vs. Leeds United)

Holding suffered a hamstring injury during the warm-up before Arsenal's showdown with Manchester City earlier in October. The Gunners have since confirmed that the Englishman is set to be out of action for three weeks, leaving him out of contention until after the international break.

Pablo Mari

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: November 21 (vs. Leeds United)

While Mari has been sidelined since June, the Spaniard is now on a similar recovery plan to Holding. With that in mind, expect the defender to feature in a Europa League fixture at the back end of November.

Calum Chambers

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Fitness
Possible return date: November 5 (vs. Molde)

Chambers has been on the treatment table for the last 10 months but is finally nearing a comeback after returning to full training. While the Dundalk match came too soon for the defender, the Englishman may be considered for the meeting with Molde next week.

Gabriel Martinelli

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Teenage protege Martinelli has been out of action since the summer with a knee injury, which he has since had successful surgery on. The Brazilian attacker is now back in light training and there is optimism that Martinelli could return for the Gunners before 2021.

ARSENAL'S SUSPENSION LIST

Arsenal have no suspension concerns for Sunday's fixture.
