Juventus chief football officer Francesco Calvo insists that the Italian giants are not looking to offload midfielder Paul Pogba.

Juventus chief football officer Francesco Calvo has insisted that the club are not looking to offload midfielder Paul Pogba.

The 30-year-old rejoined the Italian giants on a free transfer for the second time last summer, after ending his five-year spell at Manchester United upon the expiration of his contract.

Pogba put pen to paper on a four-year deal with Juve, but his return to Turin has been hampered by injury, with the midfielder sustaining a serious knee injury during a pre-season friendly against Mexican outfit Chivas in July.

The France international was forced to missed the 2022 World Cup as part of his rehabilitation and eventually made his second debut for the club as a substitute in the 4-2 Serie A win over Torino on February 28.

Pogba then played the final 13 minutes in a 1-0 loss against Roma, before being dropped from Massimiliano Allegri's matchday squad for the first leg of Juve's Europa League last-16 tie with Nantes last week due to disciplinary reasons.

Since then, the midfielder has suffered another injury setback and is now facing another spell on the sidelines after picking up a low-grade tear to his right thigh.

Pogba has subsequently been left out of Didier Deschamps's latest France squad for this month's Euro 2024 qualifiers against the Netherlands and the Republic of Ireland, and it remains to be seen whether he will feature again this season.

Speculation has recently been circulating regarding the midfielder's future at Juventus, with one report claiming that the Italian giants could terminate his contract less than a year after rejoining the club having grown increasingly frustrated with his time in the treatment room.

However, Juve chief Calvo has since played down such rumours and has insisted that Pogba still has a future in Turin.

Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of Juve's Europa League second-leg clash at Freiburg on Thursday night, Calvo said: "[Pogba is] the first one who is not happy with this year and with this latest injury.

"When it comes to great players everything is emphasised, for better or for worse. I've read big headlines and that Juventus would like to offload him. Absolutely not.

"He arrived here when he was 19, for him it's a family but we are a family that demands a lot. We hope to have him back as soon as possible."

Calvo added: "We believe so much in Pogba, otherwise we wouldn't have signed a four-year contract," Calvo added.

"We are as sorry as he is, we speak daily with the player, he knows we are not happy with this situation just as he is not happy."

During his first stint at Juve between 2012 and 2016, Pogba recorded 34 goals and 40 assists in 178 appearances across all competitions, and won four Serie A titles, two Italian Cups and three Italian Super Cups before joining Man United for around £93m.
