Werder Bremen steal point late on against Hoffenheim

Werder Bremen come from two down twice to draw with Hoffenheim.

Werder Bremen have twice come from two goals down to steal a point in a pulsating Bundesliga game against Hoffenheim.

Hoffenheim could have been ahead as early as the third minute, but Sven Schipplock's effort was well kept out.

Santiago Garcia then brought down Kevin Volland in the area, with Sejad Salihovic calmly converting the spot kick into the bottom corner for 1-0.

Then just six minutes later Eugen Polanski was brought down by Cedrick Makiadi and Salihovic had his second from the spot; it was starting to get away from the visitors.

However, a storming end to the half saw them pull level. First Aaron Hunt pulled one back with a spot kick of his own before Eljero Elia finished off from close range to level it before the break.

Within 10 minutes of the second half the hosts were two in front again. Volland headed in from close range from a Salihovic cross and then Kai Herdling struck from range into the top corner.

Werder once more refused to lie down and on the hour mark it was 4-3 courtesy of Nils Petersen's finish.

They continued to press and finally got their reward late on as Philipp Bargfrede slammed in a Hunt cross to earn his side a point.
