Danny Rose: 'Playing for England is now enjoyable'

Danny Rose says that he is already looking forward to representing England again, suggesting that the nation's showing at the World Cup has changed his perspective.

Danny Rose has acknowledged that he had been left "emotional" by the reaction of England supporters after their World Cup exit to Croatia at the semi-final stage.

England missed out on a first appearance in the final for 52 years but after the game, supporters remained inside of the ground to show their appreciation for Gareth Southgate and his squad.

Rose has suggested that the actions of the fans meant a lot to the players, and the Tottenham Hotspur man admits that he is now excited to represent the Three Lions - something which may not have always been the case in the past.

The 28-year-old is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: "That scene at the end was very emotional and I cannot believe I am looking forward to putting an English shirt on again because a few years ago, I did not see that happening.

"I am not going to lie, it was not enjoyable considering whether we won or lost we'd still get battered and it has changed over a period of six weeks. I want to get back playing week-in, week-out and want to get playing for England again."

Rose is likely to start when England face Belgium in the third-place playoff on Saturday.
