Eibar, Levante play out six-goal thriller

Eibar rescue a dramatic point having twice come from behind to secure a 2-2 draw against Levante at the Ipurua Municipal Stadium.

Eibar battled back from two-goals behind to rescue a dramatic 3-3 draw against Levante at the Ipurua Municipal Stadium this evening.

The visitors were ahead with less than two minutes played when Jose Morales unleashed a long-range strike which found the bottom corner of the net.

Eibar had a string of opportunities to level the game up, but a mixture of poor finishing and excellent goalkeeping from Diego Marino ensured that Levante held their lead heading into the final few minutes of the first half.

Les Granotes made their opponents pay for the missed chances, with Roberto Camarasa firing home on the brink of the interval to double his side's advantage.

Pedro Lopez's own goal one minute after the restart following a goalmouth scramble gave Eibar some renewed hope, and the Basque outfit were level on 70 minutes when Saul Berjon struck a wonderful volley beyond Marino to the delight of home supporters.

Federico Piovaccari thought he had put the Armeros in front for the first time shortly after only to see his goal wrongly ruled out for offside, and the controversial decision looked to have acted as a turning point as Victor Casadesus found the net with a strike from distance to regain Levante's lead once more.

Yet right at the death Piovaccari found the bottom corner once more to rescue the most dramatic of points for Eibar.

The draw means that the home side, who have now drawn their last three games, move up to eighth place in the La Liga table, while Levante are down in 17th with just one win to their name this season.
