Iain Moody 'to resign as Crystal Palace sporting director'

Iain Moody will reportedly resign from his post as Crystal Palace sporting director today while the FA investigate allegations involving himself and Malky Mackay.

Crystal Palace sporting director Iain Moody will reportedly step down from his post at Selhurst Park today amid allegations that lewd and offensive text messages were sent between himself and ex-Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay.

The pair are under investigation by the Football Association after a dossier was sent to the governing body reportedly by Cardiff owner Vincent Tan, who sacked Mackay in December last year.

The Daily Mail have reported that Moody and Mackay sent alleged racist, sexist and homophobic texts to one another during their times at the Cardiff City stadium before Moody took up his role as sporting director at Palace.

According to BBC Sport, Moody will resign from his position today while the FA investigation is ongoing.

Widespread reports have claimed that Mackay missed out on the managerial position at Selhurst Park this week because of the allegations.

The Scotsman was interviewed for the role following the departure of Tony Pulis last week.
