How Chelsea could line up against Sheffield United

Sports Mole looks at how Chelsea could line up for Saturday's Premier League encounter against Sheffield United.

Chelsea square off against Sheffield United in the Premier League on Saturday evening looking to move a step closer to securing a top-four finish in the Premier League standings.

Courtesy of six wins and a draw from eight matches, the Blues have moved in front of Leicester City and into third place, while also remaining ahead of Manchester United.

However, with his side less than convincing in defence during their last two away fixtures, Frank Lampard will have concerns ahead of the trip to Bramall Lane.

Here, Sports Mole predicts how Chelsea may line up for the showdown with their Europa-League-chasing opponents.

With N'Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic both nursing issues with their hamstring and Achilles respectively, Lampard must decide whether to take any risks on his two first-choice midfielders.

Given his impact as a replacement against Palace, Jorginho may be provided with an opportunity ahead of that duo after Billy Gilmour was ruled out with a knee injury.

Despite being critical of his players after the game at Selhurst Park, Lampard may keep alterations to a minimum, aware that his side will have had an extra 24 hours to prepare than their hosts.

Although his strike ultimately proved crucial on Tuesday night, Tammy Abraham is unlikely to get the nod over the more physically-imposing Olivier Giroud.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek is also pushing for a starting role, but Ross Barkley and Mason Mount are expected to be preferred in the positions ahead of a more defensive-minded player.

Should Lampard switch to a back three in order to match up with Chris Wilder's preferred strategy, Marcos Alonso would feature at left wing-back, leaving Cesar Azpilicueta to move into a central position.
