Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho fined £10k for 'sarcastic' referee rant

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is fined £10,000 by the FA for his sarcastic rant against referee Mike Dean and referees' chief Mike Riley.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has been fined £10,000 by the Football Association after his sarcastic comments against match official Mike Dean and referees' chief Mike Riley.

The Portuguese coach congratulated Dean and Riley in his post-match interviews after the Blues lost 2-0 to Sunderland on April 19.

Mourinho, who requested a personal hearing after he was charged by the FA, has also lost his appeal against an £8,000 fine for entering the field of play during Chelsea's 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa on March 15.

In relation to the £10,000 fine, the FA said in a statement: "While the commission did not find that Mourinho's post-match comments called into question the integrity of the referee appointed to the above fixture and/or the integrity of Mike Riley, general manager of the Professional Game Match Officials Limited, they did find that the comments brought the game into disrepute and the charge for improper conduct was found proven."

Mourinho will end his first season back at Chelsea since leaving Real Madrid last summer without any silverware.
