Chelsea are reportedly set to be landed with a huge tax bill after communicating with HMRC over the last month about their liabilities.

Chelsea are reportedly set to be landed with a large unpaid tax bill next month.

During Roman Abramovich's tenure as Chelsea owner, establishing the club's tax liabilities had proven to be difficult due to funding coming from a number of different parent companies.

Following the sale of the club to Todd Boehly, the Blues have recently been in contact with HMRC about their tax liabilities.

According to the Daily Mail, following the communication between the club and HMRC, the inspectors are expected to issue Chelsea with a final bill next month.

During the Russian's time in charge, club executives revealed unforeseen liabilities worth a total of £2.5bn, with Chelsea maintaining that they never broke the profit or sustainability regulations of UEFA or the Premier League.

The liabilities were negotiated as a contingency due to the swift nature of the takeover, and as a result, a reduced amount of £2.3bn is currently in a Government holding account.
