Burnley back into second place in Championship table

A Danny Ings brace helps fire Burnley back into the automatic promotion spots with victory over Millwall.

Burnley have climbed back up to second place in the Championship table after seeing off Millwall at Turf Moor.

Millwall took the lead with 27 minutes on the clock, as Martyn Woolford's strike from the edge of the box flew past Burnley keeper Tom Heaton.

There was an immediate response from the Clarets, however, as top scorer Danny Ings curled the ball into the top corner after a neat touch inside the opposition's box.

As the game edged towards half time, Ings was brought down in the box with the referee awarding a penalty, though the striker's spot kick was saved by Stephen Bywater.

There was still enough time at the end of the first 45 minutes for Scott Arfield to pick out Dean Marney, who fired Burnley into the lead.

Ings got his second of the afternoon with a little over an hour played, slotting home past Bywater after Kieran Trippier picked him out to make it 3-1.

Junior Stanislas's bending free kick nearly produced a fourth for the Clarets late on, though Bywater tipped the ball over.
