Jose Riga: Blackpool "need a decisive player"

Blackpool manager Jose Riga admits that they are lacking a "decisive player" in the final third after watching them lose narrowly to Watford in the Championship.

Blackpool manager Jose Riga has admitted that his side are lacking a match winner after watching them come up just short against Watford on Tuesday.

Matej Vydra's second-half penalty snatched the Hornets a 1-0 win at Bloomfield Road, where Nile Ranger missed a spot kick late on to cost the hosts a point.

Riga cannot fault the "commitment and the belief" of his side, who remain second from bottom in the Championship, but feels that they need a "decisive player" to help them make the most of their chances.

"The players deserve more for the commitment and the belief," Riga told reporters. "We had enough opportunities to get a good result and the players have fought together.

"My team were very good but it's always the same story - we are consistent in the game, even in the opening [minutes] when we gave away the ball every time.

"When I analyse our games we have the same opportunities, sometimes more, but we lack efficiency. We need a decisive player. I know that as a team to be effective you have to make the right choices."

Blackpool, who brought in 18 players over the summer as part of a massive squad overhaul, are winless so far this season, having drawn one and lost six of their seven games.
