Grant Hanley delighted by Blackburn Rovers spirit

Blackburn Rovers captain Grant Hanley claims that his side's victory over Bristol City was down to each player doing the "dirty things well" at Ashton Gate.

Grant Hanley has praised the "grit and determination" shown by Blackburn Rovers to pick up all three points away at Bristol City.

The skipper got his side up and running with a side-footed finish on the hour, before Ben Marshall converted from the spot late on to capitalise on the one-man advantage.

Rovers have now taken seven points from three games under new boss Paul Lambert, and Hanley believes that the latest triumph at Ashton Gate was built on the collective belief instilled in the squad.

"I thought the lads were brilliant and full credit to them they showed great grit and determination," he told the club's official website.

"It was always going to be a tough game, coming away from home in this league always is, but especially with the conditions as it was windy and the pitch wasn't too great, so it was hard to get playing.

"Bristol are a good side - they are set up, they are organised and they are tough to play against. So full credit to the lads they dug in and did the bad side of the game, the dirty things well, and ground out the three points which is massive for us."

Rovers are now within five points of the playoff zone following a run of six games without defeat in the second tier.
