Birmingham City edge out Millwall

Birmingham City edge out Millwall to record a 3-2 victory in their Championship clash at the The Den thanks to goals from Jordan Ibe, Andrew Shinnie and Nikola Zigic.

Goals from Jordan Ibe, Andrew Shinnie and Nikola Zigic have handed Birmingham City a narrow victory over Millwall in their Championship clash.

The home side could have taken the lead in the 10th minute when Steve Morison found space inside the box, but Darren Randolph managed to keep his effort at bay from a tight angle.

Birmingham took the lead against the run of play through Ibe as the home side failed to clear Paul Caddis's cross and the midfielder fired a volleyed effort into the bottom corner.

However, the visitors responded when Scott McDonald lifted a ball over the top of the Blues defence, and Morison latched on to it at the back post and drilled an effort past Randolph.

Lee Clark's side regained the lead five minutes later when Tyler Blackett lifted a cross into the area and Shinnie nodded the ball into the corner from close range.

After the break, the visitors extended their lead when Zigic headed home Chris Burke's cross following a good counter-attacking move down the right by the Blues.

Millwall tried to get a goal back and looked to have a great chance when Simeon Jackson raided through on goal, but a last-ditch tackle by Aaron Martin stopped him in his tracks.

Ian Holloway's side got a goal back when Jackson was fouled in the box and the Lions were awarded a penalty, which the striker dispatched. However, it was too little too late for the home side.
