Barcelona confirm Neymar's Olympics inclusion, rule him out of Copa America

Neymar will only compete for Brazil at the Olympic Games this summer, and not in the Copa America, it has been confirmed by club side Barcelona.

Barcelona have confirmed that a deal has been struck with the Brazilian Football Confederation to restrict attacking ace Neymar to playing at just one tournament this summer - the Olympic Games.

The Selecao had hoped to have their star man available for both Rio 2016 and the centenary special edition of the Copa America, but Barca have won their battle and Neymar will therefore only feature in his home competition.

Having sent a letter to the CBF earlier this month outlining their concerns over the 24-year-old's long-term fitness, the Catalan giants have now reached an agreement of sorts with the Brazilian governing body.

A statement on the club's website read: "FC Barcelona expresses its gratitude to the Brazilian Football Confederation and its president Marco Polo del Nero for accepting the club's proposal for Neymar Jr to only play at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro this summer, to be held from August 3 to 21, and not at the Copa America in the United States from June 3 to 26."

Neymar has found the net 27 times in 46 appearances for Barcelona this season.
