Mikel Arteta 'wants three more new Arsenal signings in summer window'

A report claims that Mikel Arteta will prioritise strengthening three positions when the transfer window reopens for business at the end of the season.

Mikel Arteta will reportedly push Arsenal's board into sanctioning deals for three players in the summer transfer window.

The Gunners were among Europe's busier clubs in January, albeit with the majority of their business being outgoing activity.

Mesut Ozil, Sead Kolasinac, Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Shkodran Mustafi all had their contracts cancelled, while Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Joe Willock were sent out on loan.

Mathew Ryan and Martin Odegaard were brought in on short-term deals from Brighton & Hove Albion and Real Madrid respectively.

According to The Mirror, Arteta is now hoping to focus solely on strengthening his squad when the transfer window reopens.

A senior goalkeeper to provide serious competition to Bernd Leno is said to be among the Gunners' priorities, as is a left-back to offer cover for Kieran Tierney.

A back-up attacking midfielder is also being targeted, though there is hope that Odegaard will shine during his four-month loan, which contains the option to make the move permanent.
