Arsene Wenger: 'Managing France would be waste of time'

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger states that he has no interest in managing France.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that he turned down the opportunity to manage France on several occasions.

The 65-year-old Frenchman, who has been in charge of the Gunners since 1996, was linked with Les Bleus in 2010 and 2012 when Raymond Domenech and Laurent Blanc left the role respectively.

However, Wenger has said that he has no interest in swapping the day-to-day involvement of club football for the international scene.

"I have had the opportunity to be France coach several times," he told BeIn Sport.

"As the France coach, there are only two interesting things: the World Cup and the Euros. The rest is a little bit of a waste of time."

Didier Deschamps is currently France manager, having been appointed in 2012.
