David Seaman: 'Arsenal have great chance to win title this season'

Former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman believes that the Gunners have a "great chance" to lift their first Premier League title since 2004 this season.

Former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman has insisted that the Gunners have a "great chance" to end their 12-year title drought this season.

Arsene Wenger's side currently trail surprise leaders Leicester City by two points at the top of the Premier League table, but Monday night's victory over Manchester City saw them overtake Manuel Pellegrini's men as favourites for the crown.

With other expected challengers, such as Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool, all dropping regular points, Seaman believes that this could be Arsenal's year.

"Arsenal have got a great chance. They've got to start believing sooner or later, because the other teams are not doing well, they aren't performing consistently. So they've got a great chance," he told talkSPORT.

"This season is so different because they're beating the big teams, which is a massive bonus. They've struggled with that over the last few seasons.

"But they've also got to make sure they win the 'smaller games'. Their next few matches will be a big test for them and they have to get themselves up for it."

Arsenal finish the year against Southampton and Bournemouth before starting 2016 by hosting Newcastle United.
