Barcelona's iconic Camp Nou stadium could reportedly be renamed as part of a lucrative sponsorship deal with music platform Spotify.

Barcelona's iconic Camp Nou stadium could reportedly be renamed as part of a lucrative sponsorship deal with music platform Spotify.

The Catalan giants are believed to be on the lookout for a new sponsorship partner, as their current £47m-a-year deal with Japanese electronics company Rakuten is set to expire at the end of the season.

According to RAC1, via the Daily Mirror, Barca are close to a three-year agreement with Spotify, which would see them become the club's main sponsor in a deal worth around €280m (£236m).

The report adds that the deal with Spotify would include naming rights for the stadium as well as the company's branding featuring on Barcelona's kit and training wear for both the men's and women's teams at all levels.

This potential deal could be a blow for Arsenal, who were the subject of takeover offers from Spotify's billionaire owner and lifelong Gunners fan Daniel Ek, who saw his latest bid of £2bn rejected by Stan Kroenke over the summer.

The news also comes less than 24 hours after Barca CEO Ferran Reverter announced his decision to resign from his post as Barcelona CEO due to personal and family reasons, with the Spaniard set to officially leave the club when a replacement has been appointed.
