Channel 4 has confirmed that reality show Rise and Fall will not be returning for a second series.
The show, hosted by Greg James, featured contestants living in an apartment with two contrasting fortunes - 'Grafters' were based in a dank basement with basic conditions, while 'Rulers' lorded it up in a luxury penthouse.
The first series aired last Easter over 18 episodes but failed to make much of an impact in the ratings relative to the high production cost.
A spokeswoman for Channel 4 said: "Rise and Fall was a great show that we were very proud of and attracted strong audiences, but Channel 4 is all about the new and we want to make space for the next great new reality idea.
"We would like to thank Greg and the talented team who made such a hugely fun and innovative show."
The broadcaster has also confirmed the axe of The Big Celebrity Detox after just one series on E4.
