The BBC is reportedly working on a celebrity version of The Traitors for broadcast in 2023.

The BBC is reportedly developing a celebrity version of its breakout hit The Traitors for broadcast next year.

The show, which sees a group of people attempting to figure out who among them is secretly working against them, has been a word-of-mouth success for the BBC over the last few weeks, drawing 10s of millions of views on iPlayer.

The first series featured 22 civilian contestants and a follow-up civilian series has already been commissioned for next year, but The Mirror says that a celeb spinoff is also in the works.

The upcoming US version of the show will use a mix of celebs and civilians, whereas the BBC's all-celeb edition will most likely be made in support of Comic Relief or Children In Need.

A source told the newspaper: "Everyone's been thrilled with how much love there's been for The Traitors and a celebrity version is a natural next step.

"Viewers will get to see different sides of some big names as they try to manipulate others or uncover the truth about fellow players."

Notable celeb fans of the show who could appear in the spinoff include presenter Rylan Clark, Loose Women's Judi Love, Coronation Street legend Sally Ann Matthews and Radio 1 DJ Greg James.
