The BBC has acquired the rights for the Australian version of The Traitors and will make the show available as an iPlayer boxset from next month.

The UK show was a breakout hit when it aired on BBC One at the end of last year and the BBC moved quickly to buy the US version for iPlayer.

Now they will be joined by the Aussie version, the first season of which aired across 12 episodes late last year.

The entire season will drop on iPlayer at 6am on Sunday, July 9, with a linear broadcast following later on BBC Three.

Nasfim Haque, head of content at BBC Three, said: "The Traitors is an addictively fiendish format and I am so pleased that viewers can get their summer fix of treachery and suspicion as we head Down Under for the Australian version of the show on BBC Three and iPlayer."

Filming on second series of both the UK and US versions are due to take place in Scotland later this summer.
