Alexander Lincoln has left his role as Jamie Tate on Emmerdale, the soap confirms.

Alexander Lincoln has left his role as Jamie Tate on Emmerdale, the soap has confirmed tonight.

The character - son of Kim Tate (Claire King) - was reintroduced to the show in 2019 after a 20-year absence, with Lincoln taking over a part that had been previously been played by several child actors.

In an episode broadcast several weeks ago, the village was left to think that Jamie had died after crashing his car into a lake, but in a scene at the end of tonight's episode, he was revealed to be alive as he linked up with his young daughter Millie.

The scene marks the end of Lincoln's tenure on the show for now, however, with a spokesperson saying: "Although there are no current plans for the character of Jamie Tate to return to Emmerdale, the audience now has the proof Jamie Tate is still alive and at large."

Emmerdale continues weeknights on ITV.
