Comedian and actor Duggie Brown, who appeared in Coronation Street earlier this year, dies at the age of 82.

Comedian and actor Duggie Brown has died at the age of 82, his agent has announced.

Earlier this year Brown appeared in Coronation Street as Ted Spear, an elderly man knocked down by Emma (Alexandra Mardell) and Faye (Ellie Leach) who subsequently died.

The actor was also the brother of Corrie legend Lynne Perrie - aka battleaxe Ivy Tilsley - who died of a stroke in 2006.

In a statement, agent Lee Morgan said: "It is with a heavy heart I share the news the very talented comedian and actor Duggie Brown passed away this morning with his wife Jackie by his side.

"What an honour it was to work with Duggie. A born entertainer who loved his profession.

"RIP Duggie Brown. We love and salute you."

Brown's other credits include Kes, Still Open All Hours, A Is For Acid and House of Cards.
