Eurovision: Milan, Turin leading way to become hosts in 2022?
Milan and Turin reportedly lead the way to host the Eurovision Song Contest in 2022.

Milan and Turin are reportedly leading the way to become the host city of the Eurovision Song Contest in 2022.

Italy will be staging the annual event next year following the triumph of rock band Maneskin in Rotterdam last night, in the process giving the country their first win in over 30 years.

Plans for the next ceremony are expected to move at pace and multiple Italian cities have already thrown their hats into the ring for the bidding process, according to respected fan site ESCXtra.

The last time Italy hosted the contest in 1991, it was staged in the capital Rome, but Turin is the favourite for the 2022 edition, with city mayor Chiara Appendino affirming their candidacy on Twitter on Sunday.

Fashion capital Milan has also entered the running with a proposal to use the Mediolanum Forum - a venue for the Winter Olympics in 2026 - for the show.

Other possible destinations for Eurovision 2022 include Bologna, Pesaro and Naples.
