Kit Harington discusses his decision to check in to a mental health facility in April 2019 following the conclusion of Game of Thrones.

Kit Harington has revealed that he suffered from "mental health difficulties" following the conclusion of Game of Thrones.

The 34-year-old actor, who played Jon Snow in the acclaimed series for eight years, spent a month in a private health facility in May 2019, with a spokesperson saying at the time that the actor was 'working on some personal issues'.

Talking about his time out to SiriusXM, Harington said: "I went through some mental health difficulties after Thrones and during the end of Thrones, to be honest.

"'I think it was directly to do with the nature of the show and what I've been doing for years.

"I think I took a sort of break after Thrones where I said, 'I don't want to work for a year. I want to really kind of concentrate on myself'. I'm really happy I did that."

Harington will next be seen in the MCU's new movie Eternals, due for release in November.
