Teams of stars from ITV and the BBC are to face off in a special episode of University Challenge for Children in Need.

Stars from ITV and the BBC are to do battle in a special episode of University Challenge for Children in Need, it has been announced.

Kirsty Wark will replace Jeremy Paxman as host of the special, which is expected to air as part of Children in Need night next month.

Heading up the ITV team is actress Fay Ripley, who is joined by newsreader Charlene White, Love Island narrator Iain Stirling and The Masked Singer host Joel Dommett.

Dara O Briain is team captain for the BBC, with fellow guests Countryfile presenter Anita Rani, comedian Dane Baptiste and The League of Gentlemen's Steve Pemberton.

"I'm so pleased that some of the most famous faces of BBC and ITV have come together for this brilliant cause, BBC Children in Need," said Jo Wallace, acting commissioner of entertainment at the BBC.

"I hope viewers will enjoy the camaraderie and competitive spirit of both sides for a special night of University Challenge whilst raising money for the charity."
