Sue Cleaver will join a long line of Coronation Street stars to take part in I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, according to a report.

Coronation Street legend Sue Cleaver is reportedly preparing to jet out to Australia to take part in I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

The 59-year-old has been on the ITV soap for the last 22-and-a-half years playing Eileen Grimshaw, the mostly-miserable StreetCars switch operator and mother to Todd (Gareth Pierce) and the departed Jason (Ryan Thomas).

According to The Sun, Corrie producers have agreed to let her take a brief sabbatical from the show in order to take part in I'm A Celebrity, which returns for a new series later this month.

"Sue is a very much-loved Street legend and the bosses are delighted to have her as part of the lineup this year," a source said.

"She will be a brilliant addition, and is looking forward to really pushing out of her comfort zone and challenging herself in the jungle."

Cleaver joins a long line of Corrie stars past and present to have taken on the jungle challenge over the years, including Simon Gregson (2021), Beverley Callard (2020), Andy Whyment (2019), Sair Khan (2018), Jennie McAlpine (2017), Helen Flanagan (2012), Antony Cotton (2011) and Nigel Havers (2010).
