Coronation Street releases 60th anniversary cast photo

ITV releases a special Coronation Street cast photo to mark the soap's landmark 60th anniversary.

ITV has released a special Coronation Street cast photo to mark the soap's 60th anniversary next month.

Throughout its history the show has released full cast photos at significant milestone birthdays but coronavirus has rendered that impractical this year.

Instead ITV took the decision to release a photo depicting the seven longest-serving members of the current cast alongside the seven newest - all filmed individually before being merged into a single image.

The longest-serving cast members pictured are - in order of oldest first - Bill Roache (Ken Barlow), Barbara Knox (Rita Tanner), Helen Worth (Gail Platt), Sue Nicholls (Audrey Roberts), Michael Le Vell (Kevin Webster), Sally Ann Matthews (Jenny Connor) and Sally Dynevor (Sally Metcalfe).

Meanwhile the newest - most recent first - are Gareth Pierce (Todd Grimshaw), Tony Maudsley (George Shuttleworth), Adam Hussain (Aadi Alahan), Mollie Gallagher (Nina Lucas), Jane Hazelgrove (Bernie Winter), Lorna Laidlaw (Aggie Bailey) and Ryan Russell (Michael Bailey).

In the background of the picture are three ornamental ducks - including a wonky middle one - as a nod to Hilda Ogden (Jean Alexander)'s back room mural.

Coronation Street turns 60 on December 9.
