Comedy star Vic Reeves reveals that he is suffering from a benign brain tumour which has left him deaf in one ear.

Vic Reeves has shared the news that he has a benign brain tumour which has caused him to go deaf in one ear.

The 62-year-old comedian - known for shows including Shooting Stars and Vic & Bob's Big Night Out - told Adam Buxton's podcast that he has regular scans to check that the tumour is not growing.

The condition accounts for 8% of all brain tumours and is usually not life-threatening but can lead to problems with balance and hearing.

"I've got a vestibular schwannoma - it's a tumour in my head," said Reeves. "I've gone completely deaf, 100%, in the left ear, and it will never come back.

"It's dead - absolutely completely gone. It's like the size of a grape so they just have to keep an eye on it.

"It's benign. They can't remove it - they can shrink it or they can leave it and keep an eye on it, and that's what they're doing."

According to the latest figures, around 12,300 people in the UK are diagnosed with brain tumours annually.
