Peter Crouch will attempt to reverse the fortunes of a non-league football club for a new Discovery series.

Discovery has ordered a new series following Peter Crouch as he attempts to breathe life into a non-league football club.

The former Liverpool striker will join the board of directors of the unnamed club for the upcoming 2021-22 season and cameras will follow his attempts to bring the side success on and off the pitch.

Tentatively called Save Our Beautiful Game, the eight-part series has been commissioned for Discovery's recently launched streaming service discovery+.

Simon Downing, head of content for sport at Discovery, said: "We're beyond thrilled to welcome Save Our Beautiful Game to discovery+.

"The series takes us through an important narrative of community-loved grassroots sports interwoven with heart-lifting scenes of Peter's homecoming to support local teams.

"It's a fantastic story that will undoubtedly resonate with Discovery's passionate sports fans!"

The show, which will also feature Crouch's wife Abbey Clancy, is expected to debut later this year.
