Wolverhampton Wanderers reportedly drop interest in West Bromwich Albion striker Salomon Rondon due to the cost of the deal.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are thought to have abandoned their pursuit of Salomon Rondon from arch rivals West Bromwich Albion over concerns about the striker's cost.

The 29-year-old - the Baggies' club-record signing - is being courted by a number of sides this summer, including West Ham United, Fenerbahce and Newcastle United, where he spent last season on loan.

The Venezuela international is available this summer for his release clause of £16.5m, which became active after West Brom failed to gain promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

According to Football Insider, Wolves had been interested in Rondon but the transfer fee coupled with his personal demands have led to the club 'shelving their interest'.

During his three seasons in the Premier League with West Brom, Rondon had a return rate of 24 goals in 108 games, while last season he scored 11 in 32 for the Magpies.
