Half-Time Report: Troy Deeney fires Watford ahead

Troy Deeney gives Watford a half-time lead over Birmingham City at Vicarage Road.

Troy Deeney has given Watford a 1-0 lead over Birmingham City at half time at Vicarage Road in this evening's Championship clash.

Aaron Martin had an early shot for the visitors, but his powerful strike failed to trouble the keeper, finishing just high of the bar.

Watford soon started to take control of the possession, while Gabriele Angella had an attempt at the Birmingham goal, but his header was a little too wide.

The Hornets were able to take the lead in the 33rd minute when Fernando Forestieri put the ball in for Deeney, who initially had an air shot, but was able to recover to lash the ball in.

The goal seemed to boost Watford's confidence, as they finished the half strongly but were unable to double their advantage before the half-time whistle.
