Valencia score three to see off Malaga at the Mestalla

Nuno Espirito Santo's Valencia side put three goals past Malaga at the Mestalla to move up to ninth in La Liga.

Two first-half goals and a late Daniel Parejo penalty handed Valencia all three points in their La Liga clash at home to Malaga.

Malaga's Brazilian forward Charles turned the ball into his own net after 18 minutes to hand Valencia the lead.

Five minutes later, Andre Gomes doubled the lead for Nuno Espirito Santo's side.

Gomes glided beyond two Malaga defenders before unleashing a left-footed drive past keeper Carlos Kameni.

Malaga were awarded a penalty towards the end of the first half but skipper Duda's 12-yard effort was saved by Valencia stopper Jaume Domenech.

The second half produced few chances for either side until the 88th minute, when Valencia were awarded a penalty of their own.

Parejo made no mistake from the spot, notching Valencia's third to hand his team the victory.

Valencia move up to ninth in the La Liga table, while Malaga remain in 16th.
