Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino believes it will be almost impossible for Christian Eriksen to leave the club during this transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has said that it will be almost impossible for Christian Eriksen to leave the club before the end of the European transfer window.

The 27-year-old, who only has one year left on his current deal with Spurs, has been linked with moves to both Real Madrid and Manchester United since expressing his desire for a 'new challenge' earlier this summer but neither side has yet met the club's £65m valuation.

The European transfer window closes tomorrow and now Spurs' Argentine boss believes that there is simply not enough time for the former Ajax midfielder to secure a move away from North London.

Speaking after today's derby with Arsenal, Pochettino said to Sky Sports News: "It's nearly impossible that he leaves.

"We can't say impossible because there's one day left."

Eriksen, who has made more than 270 appearances for Tottenham since joining in 2013, opened the scoring in the North London derby, which eventually finished 2-2 at the Emirates Stadium.
