Tottenham Hotspur reportedly offer Harry Kane a lucrative new deal in a bid to fend off interest from Bayern Munich and keep their all-time top scorer in North London.

Tottenham Hotspur have apparently stepped up their efforts to keep Harry Kane at the club by offering him a mammoth new contract.

The England captain will be able to pick out a new club as a free agent in 2024 as things stand, and there has been little movement in talks over a renewal up until now.

Spurs chose not to accelerate negotiations during the season as Kane focused on his exploits for club and country, but speculation over his future is heating up once more.

Manchester United is no longer seen as the most realistic destination for the striker, but Bayern Munich have allegedly emerged as the leading contenders to sign him in recent days.

The Bundesliga champions have reportedly failed with a first bid of €70m (£59.8m), but they are readying an improved offer, and Thomas Tuchel is said to have met with Kane to discuss a possible switch to the Allianz Arena.

Despite his well-documented desire to break Alan Shearer's all-time Premier League scoring record, Kane is said to be open to a switch to Bayern as he aims to finally get his hands on a major trophy.

However, Tottenham are not giving up hope of keeping him in North London, and The Guardian now reports that the Lilywhites have tabled a lucrative new contract offer to the 29-year-old.

The report claims that Kane would be in line for a significant improvement on his £200,000 weekly wages, but the striker has no intention of agreeing to the terms while the transfer window remains open.

The former Arsenal youth product is not believed to have ruled anything out at the moment, but extending his contract is seen as a less likely option to an exit this summer or in 2024 as a free agent.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy remains defiant in his position that Kane is not for sale, as the 61-year-old - who is already unpopular with Tottenham fans - is supposedly fearful that his standing with the supporters could worsen if he were to sell the striker.

Levy is also hopeful that Ange Postecoglou's attack-minded brand of football will help convince Kane to sign a new deal, as the Tottenham chief is convinced that his side's fortunes will improve under the Celtic treble-winner.

Despite Tottenham's 15-year trophy drought, Kane has consistently excelled at an individual level and now boasts 280 goal and 64 assists from 435 matches in a Spurs shirt.

The 29-year-old found the back of the net 30 times in the Premier League last term, but Spurs missed out on a spot in Europe with an eighth-placed finish.

In a bid to steer the Lilywhites back into the top four, Postecoglou has already brought in James Maddison and Guglielmo Vicario, while Dejan Kulusevski's loan deal from Juventus was converted into a permanent move.

Ex-Fulham loanee Manor Solomon has reportedly also agreed terms on a four-year deal, while talks are also ongoing for Wolfsburg centre-back Micky van de Ven and Barcelona's Clement Lenglet, who spent last season on loan at Tottenham.
