Heurelho Gomes reveals Brazilian offers

Heurelho Gomes reveals that he is hoping to leave Tottenham Hotspur in favour of a return to his native Brazil in January.

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes has revealed that he could return to his native Brazil in January.

The 32-year-old has spent the previous two seasons on the sidelines, with both Hugo Lloris and Brad Friedel preferred between the posts.

However, having held talks with the club, he has been informed that he can return to his homeland on a free transfer in a bid to boost his chances of appearing at next year's World Cup.

"Yes, I have two offers from Brazil. I have negotiated with Tottenham to go for free, so the possibility is high that I will find my home country," he told Sambafoot.

"I'm 32, I feel good, it is at this age that the career of a goalkeeper actually begins. If I find the competition in January, I still think my chances for World Cup 2014 are high.

"I often tried to leave Tottenham, but they have always kept from me going."

Gomes joined Spurs from Dutch side PSV Eindhoven in 2008.
