Brendan Rodgers 'a leading candidate to replace Jose Mourinho at Tottenham'

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers is a priority target for Tottenham Hotspur if Jose Mourinho is relieved of his duties, according to a report.

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers is reportedly a leading candidate to take over from Jose Mourinho at Tottenham Hotspur.

Mourinho's future in North London is the subject of much debate following his side's recent struggles in the Premier League, where they have lost four of their last five.

The Portuguese has been marked down as the bookmakers' second favourite to be the next Premier League manager sacked from his job, only behind Jurgen Klopp, although Daniel Levy is reportedly prepared to give him time to turn Tottenham's fortunes around.

However, Football Insider claims that the Spurs chairman originally wanted Rodgers to take the reins at White Hart Lane back in 2012 before he took the Liverpool job, and the Northern Irishman will be a priority for Levy if Mourinho is let go.

Rodgers has done a stellar job at Leicester this season, with the Foxes in with an outside chance of title glory as they lie third in the Premier League table.

RB Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann - previously linked with Chelsea - has also been mentioned as a potential replacement for Mourinho.
